gnome-chess software package provides chess game with 3D graphics, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install gnome-chess
gnome-chess is installed in your system.
Make ensure the gnome-chess package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep gnome-chess *
You will get with gnome-chess package name, version, architecture and description in a table
